Real support. Real growth. Now in Virginia.
Sanare Counseling Group is now seeing adults across Virginia by secure video, with Northern Virginia locations in Fairfax and Ashburn. Same team, same warm approach our Maryland clients know, now with Virginia-licensed clinicians. We check your insurance before your first session, so you know what to expect.
Therapy that fits between I-66 and everything else.
If you live in Northern Virginia, you already know the math. The Beltway at rush hour, I-66 inside or outside the Beltway, Route 7 through Tysons, Route 28 past Dulles. A 50-minute appointment can easily turn into a two-hour round trip, and that is usually the week therapy quietly falls off the calendar.
Our virtual practice was built to close that gap. Whether you are commuting into DC on a federal schedule, working long days in Reston or Ashburn, raising kids in Fairfax County, or living somewhere in Virginia where the nearest therapist with an opening is an hour away, you should not have to choose between steady care and the rest of your life.
Statewide care, with no driving required.
Sessions happen by secure video, so we can work with you anywhere in Virginia, from Arlington and Alexandria to Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke, and Virginia Beach. If you have a private space and an internet connection, you have a therapist.
Know your cost before your first session.
Surprise bills are one of the biggest reasons people put off therapy. So before you book, our team checks your exact plan, explains your copay or deductible, and answers your questions. You will never be asked to fight your insurer with a superbill. We bill insurance directly for the plans we work with, and we are adding Virginia insurance partners now. Tell us your plan and we will tell you exactly where you stand.
Licensed in Virginia. Chosen for fit.
We match you based on what you want to work on, your schedule, and your insurance, not just whoever has the next open slot.
Maria Perroots, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. Maria supports women and mothers through anxiety, burnout, trauma, and big life transitions, using ACT, somatic work, and CBT in a warm, nonjudgmental space.
Dr. Atiya Nathan, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia. Dr. Nathan’s solution-focused, strengths-based approach helps adults move through life transitions, set clear goals, and step into their personal power.
Every Virginia clinician is licensed by the Commonwealth.
Online therapy is legal and effective. In mental health, though, your provider has to be licensed in the state where you are sitting during the session. Not where the company is based. Where you, the client, physically are.
Our Virginia clinicians are licensed by the Virginia Board of Counseling or the Virginia Board of Social Work. Some of our team is licensed in both Virginia and Maryland, which helps if your week crosses state lines. That means state-regulated care from a real local practice, not a national app routing you to a clinician in another time zone.
No worksheets-only therapy. No “just breathe” advice.
Our clinicians use evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, somatic work, and solution-focused therapy, but we are people first, not algorithms. You do not have to feel this way forever, and the work you do here is meant to change how the rest of your week actually feels.
Start where life feels heavy.
Care for adults in Virginia, for the headline concerns and for the in-between weeks that are just hard.
Anxiety and Stress
Worry, overthinking, perfectionism, body tension, and the kind of stress that follows you home on the Toll Road.
Burnout
Running on empty at work or at home, and feeling like rest never actually restores you.
Women and Motherhood
Pregnancy, postpartum, the early years, and the parts of motherhood nobody warned you would feel like this.
Trauma
Old experiences that still shape the present, worked through at a pace that respects what you have been through.
Life Transitions
A move, a new job, a loss, a relationship change. The seasons where everything reshuffles at once.
Confidence and Self-Worth
The inner critic, feeling stuck, and finding your footing again so you can go after what you want.
Two Northern Virginia locations. One statewide team.
Our Virginia locations are in Fairfax and Ashburn. Right now, Virginia sessions take place by secure video, so you can start from home, from the office, or anywhere private in the Commonwealth.
Fairfax
For Fairfax County, Tysons, Vienna, and the I-66 corridor. Therapy on your lunch break instead of in Beltway traffic.
Ashburn
For Loudoun County, Leesburg, Sterling, and Reston. Flexible sessions that fit around long workdays and family schedules.
Arlington
Ballston, Clarendon, Rosslyn and National Landing. Sessions by secure video, no Metro ride required.
Alexandria
Old Town, Del Ray and Carlyle. Therapy from home instead of the Beltway near the Wilson Bridge.
Reston
Reston Town Center, Lake Anne and Herndon. Sessions that fit around hybrid workdays.
Virginia-specific answers.
The things people actually call (240) 363-4181 to ask.
Do you see clients anywhere in Virginia?
Yes. Because sessions are by secure video, our Virginia-licensed clinicians can work with you anywhere in the Commonwealth, from Northern Virginia to Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke, and Hampton Roads. You just need to be physically in Virginia during your session.
Do you take my insurance in Virginia?
We bill insurance directly for the plans we work with, and we are adding Virginia insurance partners now. The easiest way to know is to ask: tell us your plan and our team will check your exact benefits and explain your cost before you book.
Can I meet in person in Fairfax or Ashburn?
Right now, Virginia sessions take place by secure video. If in-person care matters to you, let us know when you reach out and we will talk through your options.
I live in Virginia but work in DC or Maryland. Can I still meet?
Usually, yes, with a little planning. Your clinician needs to be licensed where you are physically sitting during the session. Some of our team is licensed in both Virginia and Maryland, so just tell us where you will be and we will match you with the right person.
What if I’m in crisis right now?
Sanare is not a crisis service and we do not provide 24/7 emergency care. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, please call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), go to your nearest emergency room, or call 911. Once you are safe, we are here when you are ready for ongoing care.
You do not have to have the perfect words. Just start.
Tell us what’s going on and which insurance you carry. We’ll match you with a Virginia-licensed clinician and handle the benefits piece so you don’t have to. Call (240) 363-4181 or request a consult below.
